It was as long ago as 1929 that the County Ground Stadium in Exeter held its first meeting of Motorcycle Speedway and became the home of the Exeter "Falcons" Speedway Club. Freddie Hore and Bert Spencer became the first two riders to try the track during a demonstration on March 2nd, 1929.
Some 76 years later, on October 10th, 2005, Ivan Mauger rode the last four laps around the County Ground prior to its demolition and marked what was truly an "End of an Era" for Exeter Speedway.
The memory of the County Ground and the riders that wore the "Falcons" race jacket are captured within these Web pages, and serves as a tribute to what was a unique part of the sports history.
